«Tiene que llegar el día en que estemos organizados de manera que se sepa la historia de cada cual, que cada ciudadano tenga un expediente desde niño, desde que entró en el primer grado, qué hizo, cuáles eran sus características, su comportamiento como joven, como técnico, como trabajador en cualquier centro. Tiene que llegar el día en que tengamos el expediente de cada ciudadano.»

El expediente de la foto fue parte de la exposición Pioneros: Building Cuba’s Socialist Childhood, abierta al pública entre el 17 de septiembre y el 1 de octubre de este año en la Sheila C. Bronson Galleries de Parsons School of Design/The New School, acompañado del siguiente texto:
Student record book
1979
The student book is an official record that documents a student’s academic performance, political values, and physical and psychological development.
The student record book followed each student while progressing from kindergarten through middle school. Of paramount importance was the need to keep this record book free of demerits or negative notations (“manchas”), since it was the first document an authority would review when evaluating a student for further academic progress.
If a student was transferred to another school, a strict chain of custody was maintained when the document itself was moved in order to maintain confidentiality and prevent information tampering. Students never had access to their record book when transferring to a new school.
