El milagro puro de que haya sobrevivido esa muestra de objetos que en casi cualquier parte del mundo hubiesen ido a parar al m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los tarecos inservibles, es parte de la historia que cuenta esta exposici\u00f3n. La historia de generaciones aferradas a cuanta cosa les pasara por delante, tarecos insignificantes que, de pura escasez, se volv\u00edan \u00fanicos, irremplazables. La historia de generaciones educadas en el materialismo dialectico e hist\u00f3rico por un sistema que, al mismo tiempo, llevaba a cabo una guerra a muerte contra la materia misma. La historia de familias individuales y concretas cuyo coleccionismo, voluntario o forzoso, encuentra sentido en una exhibici\u00f3n como esta. En cualquier caso una historia muy poco excepcional, si se tiene en cuenta que hubo una \u00e9poca en que un tercio de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial estaba sometido a experiencias similares.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There could not have been better outcome for the stuff conserved by late generations of Cubans, who were not convinced of the prosperous future the state propaganda promised to them. These \u201csouvenirs\u201d of the past document not only state practices but individual lives. They point at the role that individuals played in the construction of Cuba\u2019s revolutionary utopia. Pioneros\u2026 is tribute to all of them. It is also a way to honor my grandparents, the foremost hoarders in my family.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
