Cabrera Ar\u00fas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>TEAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newschool.academia.edu\/MariaACabrera\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mar\u00eda A. Cabrera Ar\u00fas<\/a>,<\/strong> project director, co-curator, and panel co-organizer, is a PhD Candidate (ABD) in Sociology at the New School for Social Research. Founder and author of\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/cubamaterial.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cuba Material<\/a><\/em>, website dedicated to archive the material culture of Cuban socialism, Mar\u00eda\u2019s academic work focuses on the relationship between material culture and politics, with a special focus on practices of domination. She is also a collector of Cuban material culture from the Cold War era, and co-editor of the column \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cubacounterpoints.com\/category\/cultures\/souvenirs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Souvenirs<\/a>\u201d of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cubacounterpoints.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cuba Counterpoints<\/a><\/em>\u00a0e-journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/independent.academia.edu\/MeykenBarreto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meyken Barreto<\/a>,<\/strong> co-curator and events co-coordinator, is an art critic and curator. Her research focuses on video and contemporary art from Cuba. She received Cuba\u2019s National Curatorship Award in 2009 for the anthological exhibition\u00a0<em>Tanda Corrida: Cuban audiovisual exhibitions 2005-2008<\/em>\u00a0(co-curated with Mailyn Machado). In 2014, she curated the video program for the exhibition\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/lehman.edu\/vpadvance\/artgallery\/gallery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cuban America: An Empire State of Mind<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0on view at Lehman College, and co-curated (with Elvis Fuentes) the group exhibition <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iadb.org\/en\/news\/news-releases\/2014-06-03\/idb-exhibit-on-the-aesthetic-diversity-of-the-caribbean,10829.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flow: Economies of the Look and Creativity in Contemporary Art from the Caribbean<\/a> <\/em>at IDB Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. She is a contributor to the publications <em>ArteCubano<\/em>, <em>Art OnCuba<\/em>, <em>Cuban Art News<\/em>, and <em>Artnexus<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/geandypavon.net\/?page_id=93\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geandy Pav\u00f3n<\/a>,<\/strong> guest artist,\u00a0is a Cuban-born artist interested in the \u201cconceptual aura\u201d of ruins and decay, and in everyday practices of display and power, topics he has developed in his \u201cRuined Paintings\u201d and \u201cWrinkle Paintings\u201d series, celebrated in the <em>New York Times<\/em>. Pavon also engages issues of iconoclasm, totalitarianism, and ideology.<em> Nemesis <\/em>(2010-2012), one of his latest works, is a series of guerrilla projections of photographs of renowned dissidents and political prisoners on the facades of the embassies and consulates of their countries of origin. Pavon\u2019s work has been featured in both individual and collective exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/parikatana.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emilio Garc\u00eda Montiel<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>music curator, is a poet and essayist. Dorta\u2019s work focuses on 20th century Latin American and Caribbean literatures, with a focus on intellectual history and critical theory. He has published a book on Cuban poet Gast\u00f3n Baquero, and several articles in academic and cultural journals. Dopico<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0associate professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Comparative Literature at NYU. Her research interests integrate theories of genre with culture and geopolitics. Her first manuscript, <em>Houses Divided: Social Crisis and Genealogical Fantasies in Novels of the Americas <\/em>(forthcoming, Duke University Press)\u00a0deals with national and hemispheric politics and the novel as counter-history. Dopico\u00a0is interested in the connection between critical and postcolonial theory and North-South Studies. Her research and writing on Latin America has focused on Chile, Mexico and most recently Cuba, tackling questions of nation, cultural and gender politics, political repression and the power of visual cultures. He studies the relationship between\u00a0sexuality and gender and\u00a0the processes of\u00a0nation-building and nationalism, and is the author of\u00a0<em>Del otro lado del espejo. La sexualidad en la construcci\u00f3n dela naci\u00f3n cubana<\/em>\u00a0(Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas 2006). Sierra Madero has received grants from the\u00a0Erasmus Mundus Visiting Fellows program and the Ford Foundation\/SEPHIS program, and is the recipient of the Casa de las Am\u00e9ricas award.
